Frugal Goals for May

I have made a menu of dinners for the month of May and have stocked my freezer and pantry so that I only need to buy fresh produce, milk and bread for the month of May. Now, let's see how long that last, LOL!!! I need to save $531 by July 1st to pay for our children's books and supply fees at school. I plan on having a huge yard sale on Friday May 9th and all that is made from the sale will go towards this goal. Also, I'm taking some of my better items to a local consignment shop, I hope to make a few extra dollars from this. I have tons of stuff to list on ebay and as soon as I take my last final exam I will be the listing queen! If you have boys that wear a size 6 or 7 lookout for my ebay items in the coming weeks, I have lots of great items!! Have a great Wednesday.

I was reading one of my favorite blogs, The Errratic Homemaker, and she had a link to this post Why Bother . I found it to be just what I needed to renew my spirit and encourage me to try harder in making our home a haven for my family. Enjoy...

Yeah!!! It's Friday!!! I was awaken at 4:30am this morning by my bed and shutter blinds shaking. I asked my husband if he felt an earthquake and told me that I was crazy--we live in Eastern Kentucky. Then we turned on the news and saw that there had been a quake. So, I'm not crazy after all.

I'm so glad that this week is over, we have been so busy. I need this weekend to catch up on my school work and to finish painting my youngest son's room.

Have a great weekend

Ant House

On Saturday I took the boys to Lowe's for the kid's building class, this week they built Ant Houses. We had so much fun together and the boys can't wait until the next class, they will be building a sailboat. This is such a nice thing that Lowe's offers, the children get an apron and a patch for each project that they complete and a certificate and the best part of all is that it doesn't cost anything and for an extremely frugal mom, that's great!!

New Beginnings

New beginnings are everywhere now that Spring is officially here and I'm in the mood to redecorate. We moved into our current house a little over two years ago, recently I have started to change the paint colors in the house to suit my taste . I have painted my oldest son's room and am decorating it with a surfboard theme (his request, he's nine) think Pottery Barn on a budget. I'm going to paint my youngest son's room tomorrow, he has a boat theme, I'm just changing the color of the walls from a medium blue to a pale green to match the quilts that we have better and to make the room feel larger. I'll post before and after photos. Next on the list is my kitchen and dining room, they are currently painted a dark red and the dining room is being used a make shift playroom for the boys. I'm still trying to decide on paint colors for them. I need to watch my pennies with the kitchen and dining room because I am in desperate need of new appliances. Also, I would love to sew curtains for both rooms. More tomorrow with photos of the green room.

Take care
