Pig In Training

Tom ran The Flying Pig half-marathon last year so this year we are training as a family; Tom is running the half, the boys are logging their miles and will run the last mile of a marathon for the kids race and I will be walking the 5K. We joined a Sports Center and have been going as a family of the evenings to exercise. The boys are doing really well, they are enjoying exercising on the equipment and walking on the track. This is proving to be more than just training for a race, it is bringing our family together in a whole new way, we are working together and supporting one another to reach a common goal.

My First Blog Award

Thank you Jen, from Tater Tots and Jello , for nominating me for the Love Ya Blog Award! It's my first award in the blog world, I'm so excited and I can't thank you enough!

The Love Ya Blog Award~ These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

New & Improved Somerset Cottage

For the past few summers we have leased an old (and I do mean old) lake house on Lake Cumberland from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The marina where we keep our boat opened a new campground with 20 permanent sites, we have been on the waiting list for over a year, finally they called us about an opening, we are so excited!! We will now be lake front and able to go anytime we want throughout the year. Our new camper has plenty of room for our friends and family to visit, it sleeps 10 has a big bathroom and a large kitchen/family room combo, I can't wait to get acquainted with our campground neighbors and to buy pink flamingo lights to hang from the awning.

Date Night

Guess who I saw last night? Did you guess the hottest country star ever? Yes, that's right I saw Toby Keith!!!! He came to our little neck of the woods and put on a GREAT show, I screamed like a teenage girl and danced like nobody was watching. Tom and I don't go out very often without our children, we had so much fun, it felt like we were dating again. Thanks Charlette for watching the boys, they can't wait until we go out again they said it was the most fun they'd ever had.

Happy Birthday Johnson

My oldest son turned 10, yes 10, on Thursday I can't believe that he is a decade old. He had the best day, his got to miss school, eat at Rafferty's, order from the adult menu (this was one of his favorite things) spend money and open fabulous presents (thanks to Grandma, she made the day once again!) Johnson is one of the happiest children that I've ever met in my life, he lives life to the fullest and can't wait to grow up and leave home. His big statement for the day was, "Now that I'm ten I only have to 25 years to run for president" he is so smart and loves to follow politics and hopes to a lawyer someday. I'm so thankful for Johnson, I couldn't imagine a day without his fabulous smile. I love you Johnson and I love being your mommy!!

Winter Storms

Sorry that I've been away for so long, we were hit by the ice storm last week and didn't have electricity for 2 days, which is much better than my in-laws who live in the western part of Kentucky, they still don't have power. We were hit again last night with snow and freezing cold temperatures. My step-daughter is here visiting until her school goes back, we are enjoying having her here, she doesn't get to visit often because of the distance so the boys are excited. Between children, school, health problems and winter storms I have been really busy the past few weeks. My new furniture was delivered (I love it!!!) I will post pictures real soon.
